I bought a 100-watt amp prior to this one for a small music room. That amp started distorting at normal volume settings. I returned it and bought this one. The 30-watt amp sounds just as loud (to me) and has no distortion at the same volume. For family sing-alongs, I really needed extra volume for the vocals, so I use the two 1/4" inputs for microphones, and the "line in" for a separate mixer that manages my keyboard and an electric acoustic guitar. I use the 1/4" headphone jack on my mixer. It has its own volume control, so I can control the mixer volume separate from the amp volume (note that the "line in" jack on the amp does not have its own volume control, since it's really meant for chaining another amp or sound effects device). I use the "line out" jack on the amp to run all of the combined sounds into a digital recorder. Everything works great, sounds great, and I could not be happier with this arrangement.

The CA30 Taos compact acoustic amplifier delivers 30 watts RMS and incorporates two inputs, each with its own gain control. Three bands of equalization, with Crate's exclusive Contour control, provide exceptional tone control and minimize feedback. The polypropylene 8" woofer/dome tweeter combination delivers smooth, pristine sound with outstanding projection and fidelity.
The CA30 also features 8 of Crate's stunning DSP effects, including short and medium Slapback Delays, Echo, Chorus, Rotary Speaker, Chorus (with Hall Reverb), and two distinct Reverb modes. There's even a front panel Insert jack, so you can add your own effects, and a Line Out jack for chaining additional amplifiers.

Why is it so hard to amplify an acoustic guitar? By its very nature, an acoustic instrument requires lots of feedback control, especially when it's asked to compete with drums and a stage full of rockers. And although most amps can effectively control feedback, they often do so by severely sacrificing tone for volume.

Our CA Series amps give you all the tone and features necessary to put your acoustic sound on top of the mix, whether you're soloing at the Opry or strummin' at the coffeehouse. With its unparalleled balance of clarity, power, natural tone, and intuitive controls, the Crate Acoustic Series remains our most widely endorsed amp line. Try one and you'll see why.
