The unit is well constructed, with a similar feel to the higher priced Roland. It offers a suitable range of MIDI commands for controlling your synth, amp, effects processor or other MIDI controlled gear. A sense of its limitations can perhaps be best understood by comparing it to the Gordius, Liquid Foot, or Fractal MFC-101, which offer greater depth and flexibility of programming. The Gordius, for instance has an advanced programming capability, with script-like features. The MFC-101 offers a dedicated mode for the company's Axe-Fx and a variety of deep options for other processors and gear. In comparison to each of the above named units, however, the FCB1010 comes with not one but two built-in expression pedals. The feel of these may not be as smooth as 3rd party pedals but they get the job done! If you need to send basic program changes and a few control change messages and your budget is tight, this is the product for you!
