Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)This is a good basic harmonium. It comes with two sets of reeds (bass and male), double bellows, four drones and four stops. Like most harmoniums, it's tuned to the A=445 Hz standard (whereas most western instruments are tuned to A=440 Hz). It arrived undamaged and unblemished. There were no sticky keys, buzzing reeds or other obvious problems. I've used the instrument nearly every day for three months, and it continues to perform well. The sound is reasonably good. The construction quality is average. It is solidly built (I think the frame is made out of pine or some similar wood), though less expensive materials are used in some areas (e.g., plastic knobs on the end of drone pulls). I was on a budget and paid $375, including shipping, which I think is a fair price. If I had to pay much more, I might opt for a Bina or DMS.

Harmonium, Standard, Natraj (Item Code: HM6S) 4 drones (top pulls) and 4 stops (lower pulls) to direct the air over the upper or lower reeds. Fixed keyboard, integral bellows, and dozens of sound combinations. Finish color and decoration style may vary from photo. The Harmoniums are not meant to be played in concert like a mini organ. The reeds in the harmonium are tuned to sound well together, not necessarily with other instruments. As such they are not in concert pitch and are not meat to be. Harmonium tuning does not reflect the Western Scale and is not meant to.This instrument was introduced to India by the British. It has been embraced and is now a truly Indian instrument used as accompaniment in devotional songs. As with many Indian instruments the key for the music is selected to best suite the vocals, or to set a mood. Traditionally, Harmoniums are usually higher pitched if compared to the Western Scale.DISCLAIMER: Shellac is very impressionable, no pun intended. During the long transportation from India the shellac finish becomes marred by the packing materials. These impressions are superficial and cosmetic. Impressions on the finish do not affect the playability or sound. Therefore we do not consider such impressions as blemishes or defects.Features: * Brand New!
