(More customer reviews)Nirvana! Everything about this package is perfect. It consists of two parts, the keyboard controller and the software. The keyboard is rock solid, with metal and wood construction, and smoothly operating knobs and sliders. The keys feel slightly weighted and the action is wonderful. It has aftertouch for those expressive moments that might overcome you when playing it. Hookup to your computer is easy, via the included USB cable. Just be sure you install the software first. I'm running Win 7 and it was a plug and play experience. The keyboard includes a midi driver that was specifically designed to work with the Analog Experience software. It mapped every control perfectly with no input from me. What a joy to have something that actually works as advertised.
The software is easy to navigate, comprehensive, and quite an amazing sampling of synthesizer sounds from the last 40 years. If you know anything about the old hardware synths, you know that you could spend most of your time designing that perfect patch, only to somehow misplace it the next time you needed it. With 3500(!) sounds you won't have that problem. They have made adjustable the typical controls (LFO, Cutoff, ADSR, chorus, pitch, modulation, delay and four controls their programmers felt were the most important for that particular patch)you would expect for tweaking the presets. This lets you start with a patch and customize it to your little heart's content. Its completely wonderful.
If you could find all of the classic synths represented here, and if they were all in perfect working order, you would still have to spend many, many hours creating your patches. This is such an elegant and historically wonderful alternative. If you played them in the old days as I did, you will completely love this package.
